Beskrivelse

Various stretches are now signposted and work is being carried out for its completion.

It begins in Portbou and aims directly for Llançà, passing place of the GR 11. From this town, it descends to the Natural Park of Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, of great ornithological interest. After crossing the river Fluvià is reaches the Greek and Roman ruins of Empúries. From here, the path leads to L´Escala and climbs up the Massif of Montgrí, descends again to cross the Ter and climbs back up towards Begur to descend towards Palafrugell. It then runs through the Sierra of Las Gavarras, passing Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar. After crossing the river Tordera, the path climbs back up the Catalan Coastal mountain range towards the Montnegre, the Corredor and the Far before reaching El Puig Castellar, an old Iberian settlement located on Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Looking down over the plain of Barcelona, it descends to cross the river Besós and circles Barcelona along the top of the Sierra of Collserola, offering walkers an unbeatable series of panoramic views of the city itself. It finally drops down into Molins de Rey, where it crosses the Llobregat.
Over the Llobregat, it following the red earth of Eramprunyà and the calcareous earth of El Garraf to Sant Pere de Ribes. It then heads for the sunny inland vineyards of El Baix Penedès, towards Santa Oliza and it is not until past Albinyana that it returns to the coast in Altafulla. It borders the Mediterranean motorway passing through the beautiful Boscs de Tarragona, with pleasant views over the Mediterranean Sea.After passing the chapels of La Virgen del Loreto and Nuestra Señora de la Salut, it enters Tarragona bordering the Roman wall. From Tarragona it heads north to visit the Roman aquaduct known as Pont del Diable and from here, coinciding with the GR 65.5, to Constantí (mausoleum of the Roman emperor Constantino The Young). It soon heads for the sea after passing Vilaseca and follows a long stretch of the old Via Augusta that leads to the GR 92 to Cambrils. It then continues along the coast to the outskirts of Hospitalet de l´Infant, where it climbs up to the Sierra of Vandellós. From the La Basseta mountain pass it once again drops down to the seashore to pass L’Ametlla and then L´Ampolla, entering the large plain of the Ebro Delta to Amposta. Passing this city, the GR 92 then gradually climbs to the top of the Montsià, where it finds the Matarodona Country House. Here you can admire the megalithic circle with a diameter of 140 m, probably a temple-observatory from Neolithic times. From here the path heads for La Foradada, with a wonderful panoramic view over the Delta, with a real bird's eye view.It finally drops down towards Foia d'Ulldecona, crossing the town and continuing to the east until the El Olivar mill, where it crosses the river Sénia over a medieval bridge to enter the province of Castellón.
