Water sports and ecology, surrounded by countryside
Sant Pere Pescador is surrounded by countryside, and is set in one of the most beautiful bays on the Mediterranean. Its first historical record dates from the year 974, and the village was the stage for important events in 1466 and 1467, during the war between the forces of the "Generalitat" and king Joan II. The drying out of marshland and pools in the 17th and 18th centuries, along with redistribution of land, caused a considerable rise in the village population.
One of the main attractions for tourists are its sand dune beaches, stretching over more than six kilometres, and one of Europe's most famous water skiing centres, making Sant Pere Pescador a destination for this sport at world level. Furthermore, every year the World Windsurfing Championship is held in its waters. The Fluvià River also passes through the village, with stunning spots to be seen. Here you can go hiking and horse riding, and go on long bike rides too.
