Oil that is very resistent to going off, fruity and with excellent sensory qualities in terms of its taste, smell and colour, protected under the umbrella of the Designation.
Extra virgin olive oil, obtained above all from the Picual olive, although there is also something of Royal, Verdala and Manzanilla. It is produced in the Jaenese mountains of Segura, where a total of approximately 40,000 hectares of olive trees are set aside to grow it. The harvest is carried out manually by "milking" the olive tree. The oil obtained is greenish yellow, fruity, aromatic, slightly bitter, with acidity under 1% and very stable.
The Designation of Origin covers the area occupied by olive groves in Beas de Segura, Benatae, Chiclana de Segura, Génave, Hornos de Segura, Orcera, La Puerta de Segura, Puente Génave, Segura de la Sierra, resistant, Siles, Torres de Albánchez and Villarrodrigo. All of them are in the northeastern part of the province of Jaén.
Rich in lipids and vitamin E.
All year round.
The main variety comes from the Picual olive. To a lesser degree, there are also the Royal, Verdala and Manzanilla varieties.
