Visiting a museum with the whole family can be great fun. And this belief is shared by one of Spain’s most famous contemporary art museums: the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, in the Basque Country.

The activities available at this museum include free guided tours for families which take place most Sundays of the year from midday to 1:30 pm, both in Euskera and in Spanish, French and English. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to talk and ask questions about the works of art on display.

Younger visitors will also find other reasons for wanting to visit this museum. There are workshops (usually linked to the temporary exhibitions, and in Spanish and Euskera only) for children from 3 to 6 years old, where they can create their own work of art. What’s more, there are also workshops for older children (7 to 12) where they can learn new concepts related with art, using the latest technologies to make everything even more fun.

With the arrival of the summer holidays, visitors also have the chance to sign up for courses lasting several days, where children can experiment with drawing and painting, sculpture, corporal expression, artistic intervention and digital photography.

And in addition to all this, the Guggenheim Bilbao also has various features which are perfect for developing your imagination and fantasies, such as the sculpture of the giant spider or the 12-metre high floral dog known as “Puppy”, which are sure to make children more than happy to fall in with this family plan.
