The best way to get to know a country is to live side by side with the locals, sharing their customs, taking part in their way of life… Summer is a good time to discover the Spaniards’ true character – and the best place to enjoy their friendly easy-going nature, in an atmosphere of fun and high spirits is in the myriad outdoor venues. This is an invitation to take part in the Spanish way of life.
The arrival of summer and the warm temperatures in Spain brings people out of their houses and into the streets to live life together in the open air. During the summer months, the streets, squares and promenades in Spanish cities come alive with terrace bars and “chiringuitos”: places to enjoy a cool drink, sample local dishes, listen to music or just to have a quiet chat. Whether by day or by night, they are a pleasant place to while away a few hours in summertime.
Open-air cafés, bars and restaurants can be found both on the coast and in inland towns and villages. There are establishments to suit all tastes and preferences, both on busy seafront promenades and in the central city squares. They are also a great option if you want to enjoy the nightlife, go dancing or listen to live music under the stars.
