The days of Altamira

A grand tour of prehistoric archaeology to interpret what life was like in the days of Altamira

The permanent exhibit "The days of Altamira" gives visitors a closer look at the prehistoric era of the Iberian peninsula. Different aspects of prehistoric life in Altamira are shown: art, culture, life, hunting techniques, etc. All this can be seen through exhibits displaying the most representative items from this period on the Iberian Peninsula. The museum is a faithful replica of the Altamira Cave, discovered by Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola in 1879, which meant the discovery of Palaeolithic cave art. Altamira Cave will be closed indefinitely as of 1 September.
