A classical temple
A temple in the classical style (17th century). It houses important works of art in its interior: Gregorio Fernández, Juan de Juni, etc. Almost all of its current works date from the 17th century. The church as only one nave, a barrel vault and a segmental dome over a transept. The main reredos is the work of Francisco Velázquez and possesses sculpture and reliefs by Gregorio Fernández. It possesses several lateral chapels, the railings of which are the work of Juan del Barco. It was founded by queen doña María de Molina, of whose palace some remains are preserved (the monumental gateway is the only vestige of Mudejar architecture in the town). Now a convent of enclosed nuns of the San Quirce Cistercian order.Om te komen
