A small shrine in the magnificent Herrería park.
The shrine of the Virgen de Gracia is located near the monastery of El Escorial, and set in the magnificent natural space known as La Herrería.
The shrine of the Virgen de Gracia is a small building in the Herrería park, a natural space with a dense pine forest. Every year on the second Sunday in September there is a pilgrimage in which the image of the Virgin is carried to this place in a procession of oxcarts. The shrine is situated near the chair of Philip II, from where the monarch is said to have supervised the progress of the work on the monastery of El Escorial. The park of La Herrería, where the shrine is located, is of exceptional botanical and scenic value.
