It was built under the reign of Charles III, between 1765 and 1770, to serve as a Franciscan convent. The building, designed by Francisco Sabatini, has a Neoclassical façade, topped with two towers. The façade's most remarkable feature is its interesting arrangement of columns and pillars, not to mention the great pediment that crowns it. The church also stands out, with its Latin-cross plan. The chapels found in the main nave and the conventual outbuildings are some of its most interesting elements. In the interior of the church we find a portrait of Antonio Rafael Mengs, hung above the high altar.
