Civil architecture in the Gothic style
The house was built in the 15th century and is an excellent example of Gothic-style civil architecture.
It is specifically in the style known as the Flamboyant or late Gothic. The façade has three doors with pointed arches, and bears the coat of arms of the Catholic monarchs. What was once the main door is framed by the chain of the order of San Francisco, from which the house takes its name. Highlights on the interior include the mediaeval tower around which the house was built; its origins appear to be earlier, probably dating from the 13th century. The house is currently the head office of the Fundación Caja Vital bank.
