Located in the Castile-León region in the northern part of the interior of Spain. The landscape in the province has everything from valleys and forests to plains, streams and rivers. It is also the site of outstanding natural areas such as the Los Arribes del Duero and the Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia nature reserves.
Salamanca also has a wealth of historic and artistic treasures in towns like La Alberca, Béjar, Ciudad Rodrigo, Ledesma, Peñaranda de Bracamonte and its capital, Salamanca, whose historic quarter has been declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
This province is part of a series of major sightseeing itineraries, such as the Silver Route, the Route of the Spanish Language and the Route of Charles V of Spain. It is also famous for its handcrafted articles and for its traditional festivities such as the Easter Week processions, which have been declared a festival of International Tourist Interest.
The local gastronomy features three products with their own official Designation of Origin: Guijuelo cured ham, La Armuña lentils and Morucha beef.
