Desayuno (breakfast)
The first meal of the day, where the most essential items are coffee, milk, and pastries, <i>churros</i> or <i>porras</i>. It is usually complete with cheese, sausages, fruit, and orange juice. Different regions have different special items for breakfast, such as toast with olive oil in Andalusia, <i>ensaimada</i> in the Balearic Islands and <i>gofio</i> in the Canary Islands.

These are liqueurs, some of which originated at the convents and monasteries ( like Benedictine, Chartreuse, spirits of Monserrat, Valvanera liqueur, etc.), while others come from popular tradition like is the case of Catalan <i>ratafía</i>, Cuenca's <i>resolí</i>, herb liqueurs, coffee liqueur, etc. In general, these liqueurs are sweet, with high alcoholic content, and are taken at the end of a meal as a digestif.
