Region of Valencia: fun on the Mediterranean.
Hemisfèric at the City of Arts and Sciences
- Autonome regio:
Would you like a holiday where your children are ensured a great time? Then give them a surprise and take them to the Region of Valencia, in eastern Spain. Tell them that they will find water parks, attractions, venues where they can see exotic animals and do scientific experiments, as well as beaches that you will love too… A perfect destination for the whole family right on the Mediterranean coast.
The Region of Valencia has everything you need for a great time with your family. Besides excellent weather all year round, ideal for swimming in the sea, you will also find more than 30 leisure parks including safari parks with animals in semi-liberty, forest adventure circuits, water parks and even a Steam Railways Centre: a miniature train where children can learn about this means of transport. Here we suggest a few ideas from the wide range available, that your little ones are sure to like:
Art, Science and the Sea
Don’t miss one of the most original and amazing visits on offer: the Arts and Sciences Centre, in Valencia. Here, kids can learn while they have fun, thanks to sections such as the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum, l´Oceanogràfic Centre (Europe’s largest marine centre) and l´Hemisfèric, where they can enjoy wonderful, amusing projections and adventures for kids such as “The Enchanted Reef” and “The Origins of Life”. At the Science Museum, children can take part in workshops on how the human body works, they can discover how robots are made and feel what it is like to fly in a hot air balloon or go on a space walk. You will never have seen your children so interested in science.
At l´Oceanogràfic, they will be amazed by dolphin exhibitions and they can explore an artificial ocean where sharks swim above their heads. Can you imagine the look of delight on your children’s faces when you take them to an underwater restaurant whose walls form part of a giant aquarium?
Also in Valencia you will find Bioparc. This is a new kind of zoo that invites visitors to learn the importance of looking after different animal species. “What is this new kind of zoo?” you will probably be asking. It is a place that will make you think you are really in an equatorial jungle or on the African savannah – a zoo where the vegetation and landscapes will make you forget the barriers between you and the animals. Accompany your children on an exciting, enjoyable journey where they will meet lions, giraffes, buffalo, lemurs and rhinoceroses, and help them to follow the elephants’ trail to a cave excavated by these pachyderms.
Terra Mítica, a “legendary” amusement park
Have a great time at one of Europe’s most original theme parks: Terra Mítica in Benidorm, Alicante province. The park is divided into five areas representing legendary civilisations: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and The Islands. It doesn’t matter whether your family are daredevils or not. Here you will find attractions and more than 80 daily shows to suit all tastes. Try to escape from the “Minotaur’s Labyrinth”, get a soaking at the “Nile Waterfalls” or try an adrenaline rush with Europe’s longest wooden roller coaster. After a day at Terra Mítica, your children will think they have had a real superhero’s adventure.
Fun all over the coast
After such exciting sensations, what better than relaxing on the broad, warm beaches of the Mediterranean? There are plenty to choose from: the Costa Azahar in Castellón, Costa de Valencia or Costa Blanca in Alicante. Many of their beaches have fine sand, sports facilities and areas with games and swimming pools for children, ideal to keep them busy while you take a dip.
These are just a few ideas so that you can get the most out of the Region of Valencia. However, there are many more options: the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia hosts motorcycle, truck and Formula 1 racing, while there is a host of cultural options in Castellón at its theatres and museums.
Give your kids a treat and enjoy the Region of Valencia together – the majority of activities mentioned above also have discounts for large families. Spend some pleasant, fun days with your family.
