A centre of culture.
Today, the Royal Colosseum is dedicated to plays and concert cycles.
The Royal Colosseum of Carlos III was entrusted to the French architect Jaime Marquet. Its inauguration took place in 1771, but Juan de Villanueva carried out different reforms during the years of 1792 and 1793. Today, it is one of the most important cultural centres in the Comunidad de Madrid. It used to be the 'Lope de Vega' cinema, although it is now dedicated to plays and concerts.
