Artà is located in a beautiful natural setting, with a rich and diverse scenery.
Artà has a beautiful coast lined with high cliffs, a valley where we find almond, fig, and carob orchards, and the mountain of Artà, with low hills covered by olive trees, reed, and dwarf palms.
This town is dominated by the walled enclosure of Sant Salvador and a Gothic church. From this place we can have a beautiful view over the city. The historic quarter of Artà is filled with ancestral homes that are very worth a visit, such as Na Batlessa, the present site of a youth information centre, and the municipal library.
In the outskirts of Artà we find interesting constructions, and places of great archaeological value, such as the Talaiot town of Ses Paísses, less than a kilometre away from the city centre; the parish church of Transfiguració; the Sa Canova Talaiot, in the country estate of Sa Canova; the priory of Santa Maria de Bellpuig, in the country estate of Bellpuig; the Franciscan convent of Sant Antoni de Pádua, from the 17th century; and the hermitage of Betlem, in the ancient country estate of Ferrutx.
