The Santander bay (in Cantabria), one of the most beautiful in Spain, beckons you to stroll around this aristocratic city where you will find the peace and quiet you are looking for. Against a backdrop of the sea, you can wander around the pier area and along the Reina Victoria avenue, relax in its gardens, look out over golden beaches from the viewing points, or have your photo taken in front of the sculpture of “Los raqueros” (harbour waifs) ... You’ll be surrounded by a seafront boulevard full of pleasure boats and elegant 19th-century buildings, and you can enjoy a boat trip aboard a catamaran to see the city from the sea.
You can also take a trip to the delightful La Magdalena peninsula: 25 hectares of parkland which conceal a handsome royal palace. You can see the park in comfort by taking a ride on the special tourist train. And back in the historic centre you can savour the town’s peaceful atmosphere while taking a leisurely stroll to see buildings such as the Town Hall, the Menéndez Pelayo Library and the Cathedral, or stop for a cup of coffee at any of its charming terraces.
