If designers are the trendsetters, then Spanish designers are at the forefront. It's easy to wear just anything, but being in fashion is more of a challenge. Spain makes it all easy. We put ourselves to the test. Here are some of the Spanish designers whose reputation is already endorsed by their presence on the major international catwalks: Amaya Arzuaga, Custo Dalmau, Adolfo Domínguez, Jesús del Pozo, Roberto Verino, Purificación García, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Manolo Blahnik, Ana Locking, Ángel Schlesser, David Delfín, Devota & Lomba, Duyos, Francis Montesinos and Hannibal Laguna, among others. Have you heard of them?

These are the ambassadors of Spanish fashion. Every day they create designs for glasses, clothing and real and costume jewellery that we wear every day in the street. This great collection of artists of fashion have their own graphic universe and are backed by many years of success. The catwalks in all the major fashion capitals always have room for shows with the Spanish hallmark. We bring you up to date with a look at the Spanish designers who are making waves today. In Paris, Amaya Arzuaga has been a hit in Fashion Week for several years, along with the Spanish designers Lydia Delgado and Ángel Schlesser. Another great talent recognised in France? Manolo Blahnik and his shoes (which have now become genuine items of fetish). And if we switch cities and travel to another icon of fashion, New York, we are now in the territory of Custo Dalmau and his graphic universe, and where for a number of years his designs have met with great success on catwalks like the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. The city of skyscrapers has also welcomed the collections of other Spanish designers like Toni Francesc, Joaquín Trías, Miguel Adrover and David Delfín. One name stands out in London: Emilio de la Morena. He is a regular there, along with other designers such as Dolores Cortés, Sita Murt and Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada. Thanks to this dedication, fashion has become a worthy ambassador for Spanish creativity, culture and identity. In fact, some of the latest international catwalk shows have been notable for their clearly Spanish inspiration, featuring flamenco and bullfighting themes. Promising new talent Here are just a few examples to show why Spanish designers are so groundbreaking, and why their intense creativity is having such an impact on the international fashion scene. These are some of the young professionals who have achieved success despite being under the age of 30: one is the young Catalan designer María Escoté, who has showcased her creations as a finalist in the Who's On Next competition sponsored by Vogue and Inditex. Another finalist in the same competition is Marcela Mansergas, a creator who is known for her exclusivity. Joaquín Trías is a self-taught designer with an international profile who has shown his designs on several occasions at New York Fashion Week. Numerous up-and-coming designers take part each year in the Salon Prêt-à-Porter Paris, a point of convergence for the most innovative styles by nationalities from all over the world. Creations seen on the red carpet Here are just a few of the many examples of celebrities who regularly choose creations by Spanish designers for major events. Lady Gaga has worn over ten models from Maya Hansen's "Queens of Spain" collection, Katy Perry wears models by María Escoté, and the firm of María Lemus and Víctor Alonso has dressed Miley Cyrus in several of her performances. Spanish accessories also set their own style In the area of accessories, firms and brands like Camper, Loewe, Mascaró, Pedro Miralles, Andrés Gallardo, Chus Burés and Joaquín Berao –to name just a few– prove that Spain has much to say in this field too. And Spanish haute couture –original, intrepid and unique– has managed to make a name for itself in the world of fashion.
