Salamanca is the perfect city for browsing. A stroll around the pedestrian streets in its historic centre will take you past its two cathedrals, the House of Shells, the Clerecía church and the university. Don’t forget to stop in front of the university building to observe the tradition: try to spot the famous frog hidden among the ornate carvings of the façade, which is said to bring good luck. You’ll love the characteristic golden colour of its monuments. Then, why not have a pleasant rest and enjoy some refreshments at one of the terraces located in the famous Plaza Mayor square?
There are a host of different ways to enjoy a leisurely visit to the city: you can experience the silence of its small churches, or stroll in the Calixto y Melibea Garden amid the scent of fruit trees and enjoy views over part of the city. Or if you prefer to be accompanied by a professional guide you can sign up for a guided tour of Salamanca illuminated by night, for example, where you will be regaled with tales of fascinating legends.
