This is the classic excursion or pilgrimage between Barcelona and the sanctuary of the Patron Saint of Catalonia in Montserrat.

It is often done in a day or a night, although from a hiking point of view is it better to do the walk in two stages, allowing you to stop along the way and admire the numerous medieval architectural remains, particularly in Sant Cugat del Vallès and Olesa.
The GR 6 leaves El Vall d'Hebró, in the so-called Parc del Laberint, climbing up to cross the great woody mass of La Serra de Collserola, which offers walkers a natural area that is not well known despite being close to Barcelona. From Sant Cugat, where we recommend you visit the monastery, there is a succession of countryside deteriorated by developments and crossed by an endless series of railway lines, roads and motorways that are not left behind until after the town of Rubí. From here, the path climbs the crest and continues parallel to the river Llobregat to Olesa de Montserrat, where it crosses the river and, on its right bank, enters the defile until reaching the foot of the Montserrat mountain, which it climbs up a steep path to La Santa Cova and, from there, to the Monastery.
