In the centre of the city of Logroño, situated between the old quarter and the modern suburb is the Paseo del Príncipe de Vergara, also known as the Paseo del Espolón because of its similarity to the famous walk in Burgos. Its origins go back to the 19^th century, with the impressive walk with pollarded plane trees around its perimeter and large statue dedicated to General Espartero, who lived in this city from his return from his London exile until his death in 1879, the outstanding features.
