Ribalta park in Castellón de la Plana
The Mediterranean climate, the seaside atmosphere… Castellón de la Plana, on Spain's east coast, is a town that invites long leisurely walks, rest and relaxation. A stroll around the historic city centre will bring you to its main sights, including the Town Hall, Fadrí tower, and the Cathedral. From the town square or Plaza Mayor, via Calle Caballeros, you reach the pedestrianised heart of Castellón, with other beautiful buildings such as the Lonja (Exchange), the Principal Theatre and the Post Office.
The Romantic-era gardens of Ribalta Park are a must-see. In the shade of the trees, between Baroque-style benches, are statues of important Spanish musicians and composers, such as Albéniz and Falla, and a charming bandstand. You can also walk along the lovely avenue leading to the port of Castellón de la Plana. A pleasant four-kilometre walk brings you to El Grao, an area with much to offer the tourist, on the wide beach of El Pinar.
