It is part of the most important open-air Palaeolithic cave art site in the Iberian Peninsula.
The Siega Verde cave art site, in the province of Salamanca (Castile-Leon), conserves 645 engravings on rocks eroded by the river. They were discovered at the end of the 1980s and they are priceless testament because they have been preserved whole. Most of the engravings depict animals, although we can also identify geometrical and schematic figures. In 2010 they became part of the World Heritage site of prehistoric cave art in the Valley of Côa and Siega Verde.
