Active tourism in the nature areas of Castile-León

The region of Castile-León is home to some simply outstanding natural attractions: a national park, 12 nature reserves, five designated nature areas… Here are a few suggestions for different and original ways to enjoy them: from a hot air balloon, in one of the adventure parks, and by listening to music in the heart of nature… This is a new way to experience tourism.

Hot air balloon flights
Going up in a balloon is one of the most thrilling experiences you can have. And it's even better if you have the opportunity to fly over the nature spaces in Castile-León. On weekends between April and October, you can sign up for this adventure and see from up above places such as the Sierra de Francia mountains – Campo Charro (Salamanca), the mountains of Guadarrama – Ayllón (Segovia), the Sabinares del Arlanza juniper forests – La Yecla (Burgos), Sabinar de Calatañazor – La Fuentona (Soria), Montaña Palentina – Las Tuerces (Palencia), Las Omañas – Luna river (León), city walls and mountains of Avila (Avila), Riberas de Castronuño (Valladolid) and Arribes del Duero (Salamanca/Zamora).

The flight lasts about an hour and usually begins at dawn. One of the added attractions is the chance to take part in the process of unfolding and folding up the balloon. Let the wind be your guide to the landscape.
 

Adventure forests
Tibetan bridges, zip wires, balancing tree trunks, Tarzan creepers, climbing nets… these just a few of the attractions (using only the natural support of the trees) awaiting you in the treetop adventure parks in Castile-León.

You'll find them in Navaleno (Soria), Guisando (Avila), Hoyos del Espino (Ávila), Cervera de Pisuerga (Palencia) and La Alberca (Salamanca). This is an option that's recommended for the whole family. Dare to take the challenge in complete and total contact with nature!

Musicians in nature
This open-air festival has been held since 2006 in the privileged setting of the Regional Park of the Sierra de Gredos mountains (Avila). It has welcomed artists of the likes of Sting, Pet Shop Boys, Los Ronaldos, Dolores O'Riordan, Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler… Nature and great music rolled into one event. What more could you ask?
