It stands beside the city wall, and together with the Church of San Juan Bautista comprised the fortified premises which served as protection for the mediaeval town. It has a basilical floor plan, with three naves in three sections. The sanctuary ends in a semicircular apse which is polygonal on the outside. On the door there is a representation of the Apostles, the Virgin with Child, and a sculpted tympanum. The sacristy is on the epistle or right side, and connects with the high altar. The choir stalls and the tower are at its base. Two different building periods can be distinguished; one in the 12th century to which the two lower sections belong, and another in the Renaissance comprising the first section and the sanctuary. Highlights on the interior include the main altarpiece, dating from the 17th century.
