The Gijón International Film Festival is held in different cinemas and cultural centres in this town in Asturias. The Jovellanos Theatre is the event’s main stage.

The event is well known nationally and, over the years, has gained more and more international prestige. Apart from the film productions included in the competition, there is a programme of parallel activities such as film projections, tributes and retrospectives. Book presentations, exhibitions and concerts are some of the complementary activities organised during the event.
