ARCOmadrid, a highlight of the contemporary art year

The city of Madrid is set to host the ARCOmadrid International Contemporary Art Fair between 25 February and 1 March. This event is backed by a solid trajectory, and in 2015 will be celebrating its 34th edition. Over 200 participating galleries from 30 countries will exhibit paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, video, new media, drawing and prints.

The Juan Carlos I Exhibition Centre in Madrid, IFEMA, will host ARCOmadrid 2014, a prestigious international art fair designed to promote contemporary art from Spain and abroad, and to encourage art collecting and the creation of an artistic heritage.

Programme

ARCOmadrid also offers the SOLO/DUO initiative, in which 31 galleries will dedicate their stand to one or two artists, including Esther Ferrer, Fernando Bryce, Javier Téllez, Jimmie Durham, Leonor Antunes, Lotty Rosenfeld, Mariana Castillo Deball, Nicolás Robbio and Pavel Büchler.

In parallel, ARCO 2015 once again presents projects conceived as settings for experimentation, and a sampling of international art themes such as Solo Projects (dedicated to research into Latin American artistic production) and Opening, which this year for the first time welcomes new Spanish spaces. The guest country this year is Colombia.

The third Collectors Course will also take place –Intervening in the collection / collecting the intervention–; and the initiative ARCO GALLERYWalk, offering a series of free guided visits to art galleries in Madrid.

In addition, once again this year ARCOmadrid will serve as the setting for the presentation of awards in recognition of artistic creation, collecting, and the careers of both newcomers and established artists.

There will also be a dedicated space for younger visitors in the workshops of ARCOkids.
