5 Romantic Ideas to Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Spain

Ahhh, love is in the air! With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, Spain is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway. Every nook and cranny of the country hides a dreamy escape, far, far from reality. Sounds too good to be true? Here are 5 fairytale plans to help turn your Spanish Valentine’s dream into a reality! 1. A wine tasting route through northern Spain’s vineyards: There’s no better drink to cheers with on Valentine’s day than a glass of fine wine. But why drink at home, when you can share a bottle on one of Spain’s many vineyards? Head to one of northern Spain’s wine regions and surround yourself with lush landscape, miles of mountainous scenery, and of course, lots of wine. Some wonderful wine regions include Rioja, Castilla y Leon and the Basque Country. Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, head south to Spain’s Canary Islands and visit Lanzarote, a wine region developed on top of black volcanic soil. For more wine routes, click HERE. 2. Lose yourselves in the cobblestone alleyways of medieval villages: Spain is packed with charming little villages! From hidden towns tucked deep within the countryside, to fishing villages along the bright blue coast. Go village hopping, and take a romantic route from Spain’s north to south. Along the way, stop and admire each village’s medieval castle, get lost in the ancient heritage, and dine in Spain’s most authentic taverns. Or, go coastal! Head to a fairytale fishing village, like the Asturias region’s Cudillero, Cantabria’s San Vicente de la Barquera, or Galicia’s Baiona village. Just imagine; one small boat and two fishing poles ;) For more on medieval villages, click HERE. For more on fishing villages, click HERE. 3.
