4 Reasons Why Spain is the Perfect Fall Destination

Spain is known for its beautiful beaches, beaming sun, and bright blue Mediterranean sea. However, there is much more to our beautiful country than what meets the summers’ eye! One of the most gorgeous times to visit Spain is actually in the Fall. During this temperate time of year, there is something for every traveler. Don’t believe us? Here are 4 reasons why it’s the perfect Fall destination for you! 1. Adventure and the Outdoors: Because the weather is comfortable and cool, Fall is primetime to experience Spain’s beautiful outdoors. From the Sierra Nevada, to the Pyrenees, the Fall landscape is truly breathtaking. Not to mention, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore Spain’s many national parks! We especially love the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park in Aragon, where you’ll find yourself surrounded by miles upon miles of rocky mountain ranges, lush greenery, and flowing streams. 2. Romantic Getaway: Looking for the perfect place to escape with your special someone? Spain’s charming “fairytale” villages will have you floating away to la-la land with your honey in no time. Get lost in the quaint, narrow, windy cobble roads of Spain’s medieval villages, or share tapas for two in a traditional “taberna.” We recommend you head to Girona, one of Spain’s most charming cities, located just a hop and a skip away from Barcelona, in the Catalonia region. There, admire the colorful houses that border the Onyar River, or gaze at the unique architectural designs of the Girona Cathedral. Or, just simply lose time strolling through the tiny stone streets, and take in the “love in the air.” And the best part? Because there are fewer tourists, you might just have that romantic park bench all to yourselves! ;) 3. History and Heritage: One of the aspects that makes Spain so special is its history that dates back to the Middle Ages and beyond. Fall is a magnificent time to explore Spain’s deep historical roots, as the weather is ideal and the lines for the most popular tourist attractions will be few to none. Head to Castile-Leon, and experience Segovia’s World Heritage Sites, like its breathtaking Roman aqueduct. Next, make your way to Ávila and enter through the city walls, to explore Renaissance palaces and churches, as well as the birthplace of popular Saint Teresa of Jesus. Or, head to Aragon’s magical village of Albarracín. There, your jaw is sure to drop at the beauty of the Alcázar Fortress, preserved from the times when this rural city was the capital of the Moorish kingdom. 4. Family Fun: Want a getaway that the whole family can enjoy? Seville is the perfect destination! Seville’s moderate Fall weather is absolutely stunning, and the ideal temperature to take the kids to a fun-filled day at Isla Mágica! Imagine this: You and your significant other enjoy the city’s breathtaking Cathedral, charming Guadalquivir River, and mouthwatering tapas, while the kids have the time of their lives splashing on water slides, riding roller coasters, and playing games. Whether you’ve got toddlers or teens, there’s something for everyone in the family! Whether you are a hiker, happy couple, history buff, or anything alike, there is something waiting for you in Spain this Fall. So, pack a light scarf, some comfy sneakers, a great camera, and we’ll see you there!   Written by: Casie Tennin November 24, 2015
