This is the largest aquarium in Europe and is home to marine species from all over the world, including many from the Arctic, tropical waters and the Red Sea.
It is part of the innovative City of Arts and Sciences, and has 12 buildings which perfectly recreate all the marine ecosystems on the planet. Among the species you can see are immense belugas, penguins, turtles, jellyfish and many different types of crustaceans. The highlights include the circuit under the main aquarium where visitors can see sharks and manta rays swimming all around them. The Oceanogràfic also has an area featuring the typical birds found in wetlands such as the nearby l'Albufera nature reserve in Valencia, together with other species which inhabit tropical mangrove swamps. In total, there are over 45,000 animals from over 500 different species living in the Oceanogràfic. There are also dolphins shows, workshops where you can learn more about the various animals, exhibitions and a whole range of activities.
