This route takes you deep into the history of the ancient kingdom of Granada which was ruled by the Nasrid dynasty from the 13th to the 15th centuries. The remains of fortifications and castles located along the route are a reminder of the territorial struggles waged between Muslims and Christians throughout the area. It begins in the town of Navas de Tolosa and passes through towns such as Úbeda, Baeza and Jaén, and ends in Granada. The route also leads through beautiful natural spaces such as the mountains of the Sierra Morena, Sierra Magina and the Sierra de Cazorla and Segura.
This itinerary, which forms part of the Routes of the Al-Andalus heritage, has been designated a Major Cultural Route by the Council of Europe.
