GR 93: La Rioja Mountains
Crosses the Sierra de la Demanda Mountains, the Najerilla Valley, Cameros Nuevo, Cameros Viejo, the Upper Cidacos Valley and the Linares Valley, linking the Cantabrian landscapes of Ezcaray, to the west, with the Mediterranean lands of Cornago, to the east. This means the route crosses the main rivers of La Rioja: Oja, Najerilla, Iregua, Leza, Cidacos and Alhama-Linares. It is a mid-mountain trail that runs from one valley to the next, crossing the intervening mountain ridges, where the old livestock trails used to link the local villages. The main route runs between Ezcaray and Cornago, in eight stages that you can do in either direction. There is a variant, the GR 93.1, which runs between Ezcaray and Ortigosa en Cameros in three stages.
