Description

Trail running through the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Nature Reserve, S-NE, crossing the GR 41 and GR 48 itineraries. It starts in the village of Aroche and runs as far as the regional border with Extremadura. Total distance of 56 kilometres, normally done over three stages through the municipal districts of Aroche, Cumbres de Enmedio and Segura de León, this last one in the province of Badajoz. This old livestock trail, that links Huelva and Badajoz, and the Regions of Andalusia and Extremadura, runs over gentle hills and through beautiful landscapes of holm-oak. The trail has a variant, the GR 42.1. It leaves the main route in Aroche and runs through the municipal districts of Cortegana, Almonaster la Real, Aguafría, Jabugo, Galaroza, Valdelarco and Cumbres Mayores, where it joins the main trail once more after some 50 kilometres.
