- Province/Island: Fuerteventura

Extensive beaches of powdery sand and highly-valuable ecosystems are some of the main attractions of this tourist enclave. El Roque, Vallebrón, El Cotillo, Caldereta, Corralejo, Lajares, Tindaya, Villaverde and La Oliva are the centres included in this district, located in northern Fuerteventura. La Oliva possesses an interesting artistic heritage. To safeguard the island from external attack, the Castle of Tostón was built in the 18th century. Also prominent is the Casa de los Coroneles (Colonels' House), a civil building from the 18th century which is remarkable for its splendid façade overlooked at the corners by crenellated towers. As regards the religious architecture of La Oliva, we could mention the church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. In the neighbouring villages there are a good many hermitages, among others, that of Nuestra Señora de la Caridad, in Tindaya; the hermitage of San Antonio, in Lajares; or Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, in La Caldereta. As well as many other attractions, this district has valuable open spaces. The small island of Lobos, lying a couple of kilometres from the northeastern coast of Fuerteventura, was declared to be a Nature Reserve because of its valuable habitat, where indigenous species of flowers grow. Meanwhile, the Corralejo Nature Reserve has extensive beaches of fine sand, next to which stand imposing dunes.
