Description
Santa Teresa Convent.
The monastery was founded in the sixteenth century. It is known as the place where Santa Teresa spent most of her life.
Founded in 1515, it consisted of four naves and two floors. The central courtyard was surrounded by a two-floored cloister. The building has suffered a series of modifications especially in the eighteenth century that greatly affected the church. The monastery is renowned for being the monastery in which Santa Teresa first entered in 1535, where she first became a nun and then a prioress. The saint's (Teresa) cell became an oratory and then a chapel.
