“Zorrilla Year” marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of José Zorrilla, best known as the author of “Don Juan Tenorio”. A host of activities have been held in homage to him and his work, mainly in Valladolid, the city where he was born.

Several exhibitions were dedicated to him in 2017, such as “Genius and Wit in Zorrilla’s Spain”, “José Zorrilla and the Face of Literature”, and “Readings of Zorrilla”. The bicentenary ends in 2018 with the exhibition “My Exclusive Poet’s Name (José Zorrilla, 1817)” in the Municipal Archive of Valladolid. Also, every Saturday there are themed tours of the Zorrilla House.Notable occasions during the bicentenary include the international conference “Zorrilla and Hispanic Culture”, and the major poetry event held in April which brought together urban poets, independent poets, visual poets, families of poets, etc. You’ll find all the events as they are confirmed on the following official website: http://www.200josezorrilla.es/
