Located in what is known as the 'green lung' of the centre of Barcelona, the Zoo first opened its gates in 1892. It is home to 4,000 animals from over 400 species.
The Zoo's facilities reproduce the natural habitat of the animal species that live in it. The area known as the El Palmeral (palm grove) houses a variety of macaws, parrots and parakeets. The Aviary contains birds from tropical forests all over the world, while 'Land of Dragons' offers the chance to see the Komodo dragon.
The Zoo is also home to the Gorilla Space, the Terrarium (with reptiles and amphibians from all over the planet), Aquarama (where visitors are treated to underwater view of marine dolphins), the Gallery of the Titís (Tamarin monkeys), and the Zoo Farm.
It also offers everything necessary to ensure a great day out (restaurants, tourist train, electric cars, picnic area…) and organises activities for families and for children, in addition to courses.
