GR 4: Puigcerdà - Montserrat - Mequinenza (Zaragoza)

This starts at the international bridge between Puigcerdà and La Guingueta, crosses the plains of El Segre to the village of Alp and climbs La Molina to the Coll de Pal, before dropping down to La Pobla de Lillet.

From here it climbs to the Falgars Sanctuary and continues to Sant Romà de la Clusa before dropping down through Borredà to cross the road from Berga to Ripoll. It borders the Pic en Cel mountain range to its southern end, where the Monastery of La Quar is located.It then passes through Sagàs and Sant Pau de Pinós and through the Monastery of Sant Benet de Bages before reaching Sant Vicenç de Castellet, where it crosses the river Llobregat and starts to climb the Montserrat mountain to the Monastery of Santa Cecilia, where their is an F.E.E.C mountain refuge. From here, it continues to the Monastery of Montserrat.
It has two variants: the GR 4.2 from El Coll del Pal to Bagà, Guardiola de Berguedà, Sant Julià de Cerdanyola and returning to the GR 4 at the Falgars Sanctuary and the GR 4.3, from Cabrianes to Sallent, returning to the GR 4 in Serrahima. It is only signposted to Montserrat and a project is underway for the Montserrat-Mequinenza (Zaragoza) stretch.
