Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo - Castillo de San José - San José Castle International Museum of Contemporary Art
A castle for modern art
Created at the initiative of architect César Manrique, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MIAC) is located in an old, 18th-century fortress - San José Castle.
The MIAC was founded in 1975 to bring together and exhibit some of the most important works of modern art. The majority of its collection dates from the 1950s to the 1970s, and belongs to the Abstract art genre. Artists such as Tàpies, Michavila and César Manrique himself have exhibited here, and it is now home to creations by internationally renowned artists.
