Iglesia de Santa María del Salvador - Santa María del Salvador Church
The Marquis of Villena's contribution to art.
A museum of precious metalwork, sculpture and painting, housed inside, can be visited too.
This 15th-century church, the work of Juan Pacheco, Marquis of Villena, has a Gothic main front. However, its sanctuary is in Renaissance style and the interior, Baroque. On the West Door, the tympanum is plain, with superimposed sculptural decoration. Inside, the 16th-century screen, by the master Antón de Viveros, in the main chapel, which is one of the most important Gothic works in the province of Albacete, is outstanding. The alabaster image of the Virgen de las Nieves (14th C), patron of the city, is also outstanding.
