Málaga Airport new Terminal T3

With a surface area of 2,700,000 square feet, the new terminal can handle 9,000 passengers and 14,000 pieces of luggage per hour.
Alongside Pablo Ruiz Picasso Terminal (T2), the new Terminal T3 was conceived by architect Bruce S. Fairbanks as a single building with a distinctive roof made of 117 pyramidal cupolas. To reinforce the idea of a vast, continuous canopy, a curtain wall was designed between the atrium and the check-in areas to provide maximum transparency. The glass wall works like a flexible skin, with a structure of tensioned cables that allow it to move and make it light. A catenary beam reinforces the roof and makes it possible to maintain the array of beams at a uniform distance of 18 meters apart.
Vertical connection nodes and escalator ramps take you to the interchange arrival and departure levels. The interchange is built in on a large plaza over the bus station, and connects with the new terminal's Arrivals area.  Passengers starting at the new Terminal T3 will have easy access to all means of transport through the interchange. From that point, they will be able to reach the bus station, the future suburban train, taxis, private parking areas and the rental car areas.

With the opening of the new Terminal T3, Málaga Airport's commercial capacity of 194,000 square feet turns Málaga Airport into one of the most attractive shopping areas in Andalusia, where travelers can make purchases and enjoy a wide variety of restaurants.
The new Terminal T3 in the Málaga Airport contains the second largest Duty-Free shop in Europe and the largest in Spain. The presence of Andalusian products has been especially looked after when it comes to gastronomic specialties. One notable example is the two Michelin Stars Lamoraga Airport Restaurant with, headed by Málaga chef Dani García.
All of this shopping will make a visit to Málaga Airport into a unique experience for travelers, companions and visitors. They may arrive in a private vehicle and park in garages 1 and 2 (with 3,700 total parking spaces); garage 2 has "express parking" on level 2. It will also have VIP and long-term parking areas, and zones for rental vehicles and vehicles with drivers.
