It is located in central Spain, in the northeast of the Castile-La Mancha region. The best way to discover the area's rural landscapes is to visit its famous Black Architecture villages. There are also several protected natural spaces in the province, such as the beech forest in the Tejeda Negra Nature Reserve.
And for those in search of culture, the historic/artistic sites in places such as Atienza, Brihuega, Hita, Molina de Aragón, Palazuelos, Pastrana and Sigüenza are well worth a visit. Another interesting fact is that the Guadalajara area is the main character in the book “Journey to La Alcarria” by the Nobel Prize for Literature Camilo José Cela. Meat plays a very important role in the local gastronomy, and visitors should make a point of trying the roast lamb or kid.
