Discovering inland Spain

Living the gastronomic experience

In inland Spain, gastronomy is much, much more than simply sitting down to eat. It is a genuine way of life in which you are warmly invited to take part. Scouring the forest in search of wild mushrooms, enjoying the pleasures of Spain's gastronomic festivals, visiting food-themed museums... and even the chance to form part of a culinary team led by one of Spain's top chefs! Come and savour life to the full.

Renowned restaurants

The chance to sample dishes from the cuisine of prestigious chefs like Paco Roncero, Sergi Arola and Ramón Freixa… Sounds good, right? Treat yourself, and make a reservation at any of their restaurants in the Madrid Region . You'll find most of them in the capital , although there are others dotted around the region. A genuine delight which must be experienced at least once.

Gastronomic events and routes

With the excuse of trying one of the typical dishes, we suggest an outing to any of the places in the Madrid Region which are a must for their gastronomy. To guide you on your way, Madrid recommends these four Gastronomic Routes as a guide: the Northern Route, the Southern Route, the Wine Route, and the Ecological Route. And if you want more, why not try some of the numerous culinary events that take place in Madrid all year round (gastro-markets, congresses, tourist markets…). Check dates.

Practical tips

  • Advance booking is always recommended before visiting any of the restaurants.

  • On the webpage of the Madrid Region you'll find a guide in Spanish and English with content on the Gastronomic Routes.
