How to get to the Basque Country

The Basque Country is in northern Spain beside the border with France, in the sightseeing area known as Green Spain. There are a range of transport options available to get to this area.
From Vitoria to Madrid, about 350 kilometres.
From Bilbao to Madrid, about 400 kilometres, with connection via the AP-68 motorway.
From San Sebastián to Madrid, about 450 kilometres, with connection via the AP-1 motorway. A-63 and A-64 motorways

This area is home to the Transcantábrico sightseeing trains in their Classic and Grand Luxe versions. The route begins in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia) and passes through a large part of Green Spain.
Another option is the Sightseeing Trains of the North, which offer attractive routes around Asturias, Cantabria, Castile-León and the Basque Country.
