In the heart of La Mancha, on the road that runs between Madrid and Andalusia, you will find Valdepeñas, wine-making country with an excellent Designation of Origin. Special mention should be made of the town's Plaza de España Square, with its white and blue façades, and the Asunción Parish Church, a beautiful Renaissance building. The town also has three museums. You should visit the wine museum. Wine is at the heart of the local economy, and the museum gives an insight into the history and the cultural notions surrounding the drink. Nor should you miss the chance to go to one of the town's wineries, where they will explain the wine-making process and you can taste the best local produce.
