News for the 2016/2017 season in Spain's ski resorts
Make the most of winter this year to plan a trip to Spain and have fun in its ski resorts. You’ll find over 30 ski resorts spread over much of the country. In fact, Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe and has some fantastic areas for skiing, including the Pyrenees in the north and the Sierra Nevada in the south. We’ll tell you the most important news for this season.

Off-piste fun is one of the hallmarks of skiing in Spain. What’s more, this season several resorts have expanded their range of après-ski offers. For example, the Cerler and Panticosa resorts have bolstered their off-piste activities and activity areas, while Espot and Baqueira have refurbished some of their main terraces.
More family snow
This season’s challenge: to make skiing a sport for the whole family. For example, the Cerler resorts, Formigal-Panticosa, San Isidro, Valdelinares and Valdesquí have new activities for children and young people. Meanwhile Vallter 2000 has a new playroom service and Leitariegos has opened a beginners’ slope. And Port Ainé has been certified as a family tourist facility by the Catalan Tourist Board
Because now you have more flexible ski pass options, such as the new 4-hour pass at La Molina or its unrestricted choice pass, exclusive entry to the Snowpark at the Boi Taüll resort or the option to combine your enjoyment of the resorts of Candanchú and Astún with a single ski pass and a bus service between the two Aragonese Pyrenees resorts. What’s more, almost all the resorts have renewed their signposting.

Take advantage of the opening of a new restaurant area at Candanchú-Astún or a gourmet locale at the Baqueira Beret resort. Others such as Javalambre, Valdelinares and Valdesquí have also renovated their culinary range.
Because this year Spain is welcoming the world’s best skiers. The La Molina resort is hosting the Snowboard World Cup and the Sierra Nevada ski resort is the venue for the Snowboard and Freestyle World Championship.

Most of the resorts have acquired new equipment to hire for skiing, for children and for snowboarding. Many of them have also installed new windbreaks. The Vall de Núria resort has opened a new snowshoe circuit and Sierra Nevada has completed the lighting for the largest permanent halfpipe in Spain.
