Celebrating the wine harvest festival in Logroño
Logroño is the perfect place for learning all about the famous Spanish wine, Rioja. Within a radius of 8 kilometres of this city, you can visit as many as nine wineries to discover the secrets of how this wine is produced. The best bit comes after you have toured the vineyards and production facilities: savouring the final result in the process by tasting a few wines or eating in the restaurant. And if you want to learn even more, you can sign up for a wine-tasting course. Another excellent option is the “Catarsis” programme, which offers classical music concerts or live jazz every Saturday night at one of the wineries. The event includes a tour of the winery, wine-tasting and a cocktail dinner. Finally, why not indulge in a relaxing wine therapy session at one of the spas in the city?
As you might imagine, wine is the focal point of many of the local festivities. On 11 June, more or less coinciding with the feast day of St Bernabé, jugs of wine, bread and fish are given out. Meanwhile, the traditional treading of grapes is celebrated in September, during the wine harvest.
