Fairs have become a fundamental promotional activity for all business sectors.
Many of the fairs held in Spain are very well attended by both nationals and foreigners alike. The pull that shows and trade fairs have with visitors has effectively combined with the expansion and improvement of the majority of Spain’s fair venues. The clear protagonists of Spain’s fairs are the tourism, sports and leisure sectors due to the number of exhibitors as well as the number of attendees. Over 20% of shows correspond to the above activities. Among them, FITUR (International Tourism Fair) in Madrid.

Today, Spain is an international reference point for attending and hosting fairs. This is demonstrated by the fact that Barcelona was chosen by Reed Travel Exhibitions to host EIBTM, the most important fair with regard to incentive trips, congresses and conventions. According to Reed Travel, Barcelona was selected with the preferences of the exhibitors, organizers, invited buyers and other specialist attendees in mind; in the words of the Reed Group: “… because of the city’s dynamic and exciting street life, the quality and number of its four- and five-star hotels, its restaurants, attractions and nightlife.”
The different events that take place within Spain have become a promotional activity that all business sectors need; they use these fairs and shows to display their newest items while at the same time highlighting the latest market trends.
Fairs are an ideal promotional tool for almost any activity, and for this reason, their increase in Spain over the last few years can be expected to continue. New technologies now have a secure place in Spain’s fairs, and other innovations that arise in the global economy will, without a doubt, have their place as well.
