Spain has experienced its best ever year in terms of tourism figures, exceeding pre-recession levels. At the end of last year, Madrid welcomed the world's one billionth international tourist and 2014 is set to be another phenomenal year. Spain was visited by over 60 million international tourists in 2013. This is an all-time record year for Spanish Tourism. Over 59,000 million euro in tourism receipts (+9.6%). Spain's position in the world 2012: 3rd in international arrivals 2nd in tourism receipts Spain has over 8,000 km of coastline, 3,000 beaches and 648 Blue Flag awards (www.blueflag.org). Ten more blue flags than last year and leads the ranking. It is the 1st country in the world by number of beaches and marinas with this prestigious recognition.
