ITAA Costa del Sol Fam Trip
Costa del Sol 12tth April Our first fam trip of the year was run with the ITAA to the Costa del Sol on the 12th of April. Believe it or not, many agents have not been to the Costa del Sol in a while so it was time to refresh perceptions of this classic sun destination. We stayed in the Principe Sol in Torremolinos, we visited the Equestrian Centre in Estepona, we had a tapas lunch at Puro Beach bar and then to Aqua Park in Benalmadena. The following day we visited the caves of Nerja, enjoyed a buffet brunch in the Parador de Nerja before an arduous session in the spa of the Beatriz Palace hotel. We spent an evening in the pretty town of Mijas and had a wine tasting dinner in the Wine Museum (www.museovinomalaga.org) which the group really enjoyed. The next day took in Malaga City (Picasso Museum, the Alcazaba, the Cathedral, Bodegas El Pimpi and shopping). We had dinner in the Carihuela area of Torremolinos in the beach bar "Playa Miguel". On our last day we took in the Bioparc in Fuengirola and went on to have lunch in Marbella in the beautiful old town before flying back to Dublin and Cork. Costa Brava Golf 17th April We brought a group of golfing agents to the Costa Brava on the 17th April. The hard work started with 9 holes on the Club de Golf Costa Brava after our direct flight to Girona. We stayed in the family run Hotel Garbi in Calella de Palafrugell. After a workshop with local suppliers we had lunch and played 18 holes at Emporda Golf. Show cooking was a fish dinner that evening in the fishing port of Palamos. The following morning we went wine tasting the Celler Can Sais - many of the wineries in the region are small family plots and this one was managed by Marta Arenas and her father (with seasonal help for harvest time). They also tend and harvest olive trees on the same land. We went on the golf Girona to play 18 holes there and spend the night in the 5* Guitart Monterrey in Lloret de Mar. The last day took us to the PGA Golf Catalunya where we played 9 holes on the Tour Course, broke for lunch in the clubhouse before playing another 9 on the Stadium Course before transferring to Barcelona airport to return to Dublin. Santiago de Compostela, City break On the 25th of April, in conjunction with Aer Lingus, we took a group of ten agents on the under two hour flight to Santiago to visit the city for the weekend. The group stayed in 3 hotels, the Hotel AC, the Hotel NH and the Hotel San Francisco. A guided tour of the historical city ended with a visit to the cathedral rooftops (this needs to be booked in advance) and dinner in the oldest hotel in the world, the Parador Dos Reis Catolicos. We visited the colourful food market before going to the City of Culture on the outskirts of the city before lunch in the Don Quijote restaurant. After this we had a spa session in the Spa Quinta da Auga before tapas and wine at Azabache restaurant and returned back to Dublin the following morning. The Camino de Santiago in the province of Galicia - 27th April - 2nd May Four agents came out to sample the different pilgrimage routes to Santiago in the Galicia province - The French route, the Finisterre route, the Portuguese route amongst others. We visited monasteries, churches and official accommodation for pilgrims run by the regional government and are on a first come first served basis. We did walk every day for around an hour each time to experience the journey on foot.
