A modern democratic Royal Household

The Spanish royal family is made up of H.M. the King Felipe VI, H.M. the Queen Letizia, the Princess of Asturias Leonor, Princess Sofía, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía.

H.M. Felipe VI was declared King on 19th June 2014. Son of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía, he was born on 30th January 1968 in Madrid. He is a Law graduate, holds a Masters in International Relations and was an Olympian athlete at the Barcelona games in 1992, obtaining the Olympic Diploma in Soling-class sailing. He is also the Supreme Commander of the Spanish Armed Forces and Honorary Chair of important Foundations and Associations such as the Fundación Príncipe Felipe, the Fundación Príncipe de Girona and the Fundación Hesperia.
